salt on car bad for long period of time?

Hey all,
Weather up here in MA is going foul again. Freezing temps and salty roads this morning. Now my car is caked in salt (more hood and bumper areas)...prolly won't get a chance to bring it to a car wash for a few days as the weather is not going to clear up, so really no use in washing it then it getting dirty again.

Really really bad for salt on the paint? It's just like in lil clumps (kinda drop's of rain, except salt).

thanks!

Probably not that bad for the painted and stainless surfaces. Rust forms instantly on bare metal if left exposed. More so if it is wet. Where would bare metal be on my pristine Benz you ask? Rock chips in the paint and underbody!

I'd be out there hosing it off after every drive!

Growing up in WNY I would second the wash it off ASAP. That stuff eventually even goes threw paint. Wash everything, the underbody, suspension, diff., ..., even the engine compartment. Rinsing off is almost as good as washing when it comes to stoping salt damage. I hate salt on roads

yea...salt has been on this car since we bought the car 10 years ago. Probably get it ran thru a car wash today when I gas up cuz it's way too cold to wash it yourself (about 20 degree's today) and any water in your driveway would just go to ice :p

LOL.

Well, I brought it to a car wash and damn, there were some nice cars going thru and other nice cars gettin detailed. The weather is clear for the next few days, but HORRIBLY COLD.

my car is super clean now, including a underbody wash to rid that salt

AHHHH...but what to do now. Our S5 is friggin' nasty like my car.

I'm thinking of taking it to the same car wash I do, that, or take it to one of those self wash bays, but then i can't reach underneath the body to spray the parts.

What to do...

I would take it to one of those Dr.Detail places where they wash your car by hand. Get ready to dry the car yourself again though.

haha...u stalking me now Al? :p Yea, that was me in the corner. U notice all that white salt on my car? Atleast I got it washed and it's sparkly clean now

I think I found a touchless car wash in Wellesley. U should really see the S....totally caked in salt, it's not even funny, lol. I would wash it myself, but just way too cold outside, as u know.
