A product named Nanohide has caught my eye.

Just got it done last week. Car looks like almost like day one! So far, it stayed pretty clean, dust/dirt doesn't stick onto the paint anymore. It slides right off once I start driving.

I have a black w212 by the way

Where did you have this done? A regular detailing shop or someplace else?
Thanks.

I've got it done at a shop that specialize in coating and clear bra. They also did a paint correction before applying the ceramic pro. I think that made the biggest difference which removed all the swirl marks.

I did it at Carzwerk in California.. not sure about Virgina, good luck!

This. While the ceramic coatings will add a certain level gloss, the most important step is getting the paint as close to perfect as possible before the coating is actually applied.

Here's their Corporate website link where you can find an installer nearby:

Base on my experiences I'd recommend finding a reputable installer who will perform the paint correction well prior to applying the CP coating. Additionally, make sure they are fully transparent regarding the warranty and any exclusions etc.

I spoke to two detailers on Long Island, highly rated, they both said Ceramic Pro is overpriced **** and that the formula was actually stolen from one of the other competitors by an ex-employee or something. So theres that.

I'm sure it does the job, but my guess is it does the same job as the cheaper ones.

Funny, heard the exact same thing this weekend about CP when looking into coating or PPF for my new GLC43. This detailer uses a different brand, but can't recall which one. Still deciding on whether to go ceramic, PPF, or both. This detailer doesn't like PPF and stopped doing it, so would have to take my vehicle to 2 different places.

Also, does anyone know if you can put the PPF on TOP of a ceramic coated vehicle? I see a ton of articles about putting the ceramic on top of the PPF, but not the other way around. Thx.

Install procedure is usually PPF then ceramic coating. I'm not sure about the specifics, but it has to do with how the film bonds with the paint. The ceramic coating is too slick and the PPF won't adhere properly.

Ideally, you would have it all installed at one shop, so they can do a paint correction, install the film over perfect paint, then ceramic coat the entire car.

I only had my allow wheels done with Opti Pro. I have no interest in doing the whole car with it. I’ll stick with Zaino for the rest of the car.

Consider trying a product like Carpro Hydro2. Much easier to use and contains silica properties similar to a ceramic coating. It only last 3 to 6 months, but it's so easy to apply that you won't mind doing it.

thanks. I’ll stick with Zaino and Optimum Car Wax Spray on top which last just as long, if not longer.

I just coated my wife’s new wheels and used Gtechniq C5 and have to say I’m not terribly impressed. I prepped the wheels with an IPA and followed the manufactures directions . I wash my cars weekly and use Meguiars D156 on the wheels when drying and feel I get just as much beading with that as I do with the coating.

I'm having this done to my wheels on Thursday. There's no risk of the coating throwing off the balance of the wheels correct?
