brake dust that wont come off

The wheel below has been cleaned twice with soap and water, and still has these black specs all over it and the brown color in parts. They won't come off with bug & tar remover, soap, excessive scrubbing, etc.. any products you would reccomend? I've tried everything in my garage. Thanks

thanks, I tried rubbing alcohol and it got off about 80% of it, however there are still a few black dots I couldn't rub off. I might have to invest in a clay bar....

Sounds like there is pitting in the clear coat. Have you been using spray type wheel cleaners and ever on a hot rim? Have you ever let the brake dust stay on the wheels for weeks at a time without washing to where it builds up to a heavy coat time and time again? Have you been keeping a coat of wax on the wheels over time? Any time in a commercial car wash?

i bought my car from an old lady at 86,000 miles, so the wheels were probably never waxed before it their life. The front wheels have a whole lot more crap in them than the back, so I assume it came from brakedust building up for months at a time.

Maybe it'd be easier if I just got some new monoblocks...

generally the front rims get more brake dust as it does 75% of the braking while the rears only do about 20-25% stopping assistance.

Mine seems "etched" onto the spokes...but I got a little off with the spray of Meguiars quick detailer on a cloth then rubbing. I will try rubbing alcohol next time I wash again...to tired from washing today :p

I don't know about clear coat peeling off the rims but I got bubbling under the air valve stem...

be careful not to take off the paint

u can get a local guy to repaint them with a thick layer of clear coat, then keep them waxed and use p21s
