Once a week if there is no rain. In between washes the front wheels are always cleaned each night after dinner. I've developed a simple way to clean the rims in between washes. I keep a bottle of filled a spray windex with 1/32 windex and the rest water in the garage, after dinner and the rims are cool I spray each rim with the mixture and also spray 2-3 folded Brawny paper towels per rim, the brake dust comes right off and I use a few dry paper towels to dry the rims. The mixture is so so mild so it doesn't remove the wax I keep on the rims and the Brawny towels are strong yet soft. Every morning my car/rims looks clean

Rims every night, eh? Hmmm....I've been thinking about cleaning them every few days I like your idea of the windex+water mixture in a bottle, i'll hafta try that.

2-3 times a week, how do you find time?

Set aside an hour that is for absolutely nothing, right before dinner. When necessary use the hour to wash the car, if it takes longer (usually does) skip dinner. I use the quick wax to save on time. Real wax once every two or three weeks, depending on schedule. Sundays are nice to do it.

An hour? Haha that's how long it takes me just to clean the wheels...

My usual wash and dry routine takes about 2-3 hours.

It takes all of 5 mins to do the evening wipe down I mentioned above..

Also if the rims are not allowed to build up so much dust/dirt simple car wash soap and water is all that's needed when washing the car to clean the rims.

It all depends on how you're washing them and how **** you are about the finish. If you are a detail fanatic, there's no way 5 minutes will ever do.

The 5 min wipe down is perfect in between washes and leaves the rims spotless including the lug areas. I do not clean the non clear coated area behind the spokes during the evening wipe down.

Remember, if you don't let the rims ever get very dirty they clean up much quicker...i never use or need wheel cleaner even when I wash the car and because of this the wax on the rims lasts much, much longer.

PS My car is probably one of the cleanest in town(I'm told this quite often) both inside and out and under the hood and has 0, none, nada swirl marks on it's black finish and is always super smooth to the touch because its waxed after every wash with Eagle one wax as u dry, the rims get the eagle one too with every wash. The stone interior is also flawless The wash and detail process(too long to get into here) takes a lot of time and sweat.

I wash my car every Saturday.. I'd love to do it each day cause I'm a real cleaing-addict WHEN IT COMES TO MY CAR hehe.. my mom wishes I'd be the same with my room.

The rims can be a real pain to get super-clean after just one week.. the brake dust generated when just driving like 1 mile is incredible.

Have you ever thought about picking up a Calf. Duster for your rims? If you have a nice coat of polish on your rims (I use Zaino), then the brake dust will just Dust off, especially if you can do them everyday. It would probably cut your time in half.

As for me, I try and wash my car once a week. It's been a wet spring here so far, so my car hasn't been looking it's best, and I haven't always been able to stick to the once a week schedule.

Doesn't the duster get very black from repeated uses?

e
depends on the state of the car and weather. My car is never dirty, so about once a week. beyond that, if i have the power washer out, i will dump loads of detergent over the car then politely blast this off with the pressure washer. This keeps it tip top.

Eventually it will, and you can buy a new one (they're only like $10.). But it should last quite awhile.

For clarity: I am suggesting a duster exclusively for the rims. I would not use my rim duster on my car. If you shake it out before and after each use, it should last a long time (year?). I do not do this.

I wash every week. Wax every other with Eagle One Nanowax, 3M, or Mcguires. On the weeks I dont use the hand wax, I use Eagle One wax as you dry. I love doing it and the end result is incredible.
