It is a great product for wiping up dust after sitting for a bit in the garage. But it should not be used after the car has gotten wet as the dust turns into hard dirt from the water and can scratch the paint surface. Hope this helps.

I love mine, and I have the mini duster for the interior. Like TCM said, keep it away from water.
They really do the trick.

I used a California duster on my car. It does remove pollen and dust, but I found it to leave a residue or film on the car. DO NOT pass it over the windows or you'll be sorry......leaves a film similar to smokers film on the exterior....wat a mess!!! I had to rewash and dry my car.
I already gave mine away after using it twice.
My car is obsidian black.

I agree, it will leave a residue if you are not careful. You cannot apply any pressure on the wand or you will get streaks. My car is red so I can see them too if I press too hard. I still stick by it, and use it all the time.

I use a car duster on red, black, speed yellow painted cars without any problems (it may be that you are using too much pressure on the duster?
Car Duster:
The best known brand (California Car Duster) it can be used to remove pollen or light dust without causing scratches by applying very little surface pressure with the duster, dusting with long strokes in one direction only. It important to use the duster only for the removal of dry surface dust, if the vehicle has oily road film, road tar, damp pollen or dust, etc it should be washed.
When the duster is first purchased it should be wrapped in newspaper to remove any excess paraffin wax, the duster should not be washed, the dirtier it gets the better it works (I've been using mine now for almost five years without it being washed) Shake the duster occasionally to ensure any particles picked up will drop out rather than come to the surface while your using it.

I use it daily on my silver car and love it. But as already stated, it definitely shouldn't be used on windows or if the car is the least bit wet. I have a mini duster for the interior that I use on occasion.

You have to wrap it in newspaper for at least 10 days. Best to change the paper everyday also. You'll be amazed at thow "greasy" looking the paper looks. When it stops looking like this, you're done. And then, like everyone else says. Very easy, one direction, etc. My car is silver, so no problems. Not sure if i'd use it if my car was black.

Car Duster
I love the way it works on my dark green (cypress) E420. We get a lot of lime green colored pine pollen and "garage dust" - works fine. Just have to use common sense with it.

I have a black w211 and the california duster works perfectly fine. I say this as a detailing nut
All you need is some common sense. Yes, it may leave some smudge and streaks but that why you have QD. The CD serves it's purpose well as long as you remember it is not a replacement for washing your car.
