1991 Mercedes-Benz 300D 2.5 Turbo
Oil
I was wondering what is the absolute best oil I could put into a diese-Benz? More specifically, a 1991 Mercedes-Benz 300D 2.5 Turbo. I know that the oil will be synthetic. Mobil 1? Amsoil?

Unless synthetic has been used since new, I don't see the need for it. The benefits will not be there on an engine thats had some hours on it. Rotella (non-synthetic) or Delo will work fine.

Mobil Delvac 1 5w-40 is the best diesel oil period. Well you could probably make a good argument for that 5w-40 Amsoil as well. But you can't get 5 quart jugs of Amsoil for $20 now can you?
Shell Rotella Synthetic is a group three, only slightly better then running straight dino. Mobil 1 and Amsoil are group 4's. (well most Mobil 1 is, the stuff MB's use anyway.)

I've heard Lubro Moly oil is good, but like you said before, it's pretty hard to find. I think the only way I could get it is via mail.

According to a post I saw, (DON'T TAKE THIS AS FACT, BUT RATHER AS HEARSAY) it is being relabled Mobil 1 Turbodiesel oil, same weight and everything, and will be available later this month, or later this year depending on where you are.
