Diesel Throttling
Hey guys. I don't really know much about diesels, but i have a 300d and theres something i dont understand. I know gas engines allow more air in through the throttle body to throttle the engine, but how do you make a diesel engine speed up? I don't think its a matter of just letting air into the cylinder... IF anyone can help me understand how you throttle a diesel engine it would be very greatly appreciated.

It's contrilled by how much fuel is injected into the engine.
As you press the go pedal, you increase the amount of fuel the injection pump pushes into the cylinder

Thanks guys. I thought it might have had something to do with introducing more fuel into the combustion chamber, but i was confused by the idea that if you do that in a gas engine, the mixture burns rich and can cause damage to components. Thanks for clarifying.
