Ive only seen my diesel smoke on cold start it passed the echeck opasity test with a 0 (measured 0-20, 0 is the best rating, 20 the worst)
PLEASE HELP

Cetane is the word (I believe)
Von Turbo,
I am not suggesting for one moment that this will make your 300 zoom but I have read something about high cetane (equivalent of high octane in gasoline) diesel fuel being good for diesel engines. With the new ULDS I do not know if the oil companies still do it. Go on the oil company websites and check.
When I had a 1999 VW Jetta TDi I was experimenting all sorts of fuel. It burned virtually anything but pump diesel (Sunoco Gold the best) gives the best power. Automatic transmission fluid lowers the clattering sound and I used a liter every few tanks, alternating with diesel additives. Most stuff is safe with the older diesels but not so with the newer Bluetec engines.
I enjoy my 2 Mercedes (gas cars) but would like to have a MB diesel sometime in the future.
Best of luck with your new accquisition.

Why make it smoke? It just means you do not have enough air to burn your fuel.
What is your current 0-60 time? If it's in the 14-15 second range then you are doing fine.
