Blocking ALDA
What if i were to block the vacuum line coming from the alda or block the line coming from the intake manifold???
Im kind of scared to do the trial and error thing?
Thank you for any input.
By blocking those lines, the ALDA never gets a pressure signal to expand and allow the injection pump to put out more fuel. The pressure line is led from the intake manifold which is fed boost from the turbo. No boost: NA.
The right way to go about this is to completely remove the ALDA assembly. Or, tear off the black cover revealing a locknut and adjustment screw (CCW to richen off-idle fueling). I just used a couple of adjustable wrenches to remove my ALDA's. Been happy ever since.
Without the ALDA, you will not have to worry about any pressure lines becoming clogged with soot.
The ALDA uses a control rod connected to the fuel governor inside the injection pump. When this rod is extended all the way out, the injection pump supplies the most fuel it can up to its maximum full load stop limit. When the rod is pushed in, the ALDA will limit fueling (usually at idle) by the (edited)expansion of its two aneroid capsules (the guts) from the lack of pressure it receives from the intake manifold's boost signal (from your pressure lines). With the ALDA removed, the control rod is extended completely out, all the time.
Then, it is your right foot that decides how much fuel to add, and when.
