LA Times review/video of Bluetec E

... can be found right here. Check out the video as well as the story. And, lest anyone think that Dan Neil is a lightweight buffoon, he has a Pulitzer Prize for writing car reviews. Do you?

B J Bill was a Rhode Scholar and that did not stop him being a "jerk".

Idi Amin, the ex-strong man of Uganda was a field marshal and king of Scotland (self appointed) and now living in Libya.

Mao Say Dung authored the little red book and he killed millions. He awarded himself the Bullet-Sir price for successful world population control.

Sorry, I'm not going to debate anyone who thinks that "Rhodes" is spelled "Rhode", and who thinks (after all the recent publicity about the movie!) that Idi Amin is still alive.

Mr DWP:

I was trying to be funny - obviously not succeeding. Thanks for pointing out the difference between Rhode and Rhodes. I thought the origin of this scholarship has something to do with Rhodesia to be honest.

I enjoy the video a lot though it was made for the general audience and not the enthusiast.

I really like this car. If only they offered it with the Sport Package.

Wonder why the E320 Bluetec cars come standard with 16 inch wheels. The biggest they recommend as an option package is the 17 inch, when we all know that they can take 18 inch ones with no problem.

I'd bet it's to maintain the high EPA estimates for fuel economy.

Alan,

Now I know why I am only getting 23.4 mpg. I am running 17 inch mock AMG rims with 245 snows. These were taken off my old E55 when I sold it.

I wonder what sort of mileage will result when I put on my set of 18 inch CLS-500 tire package in the summer. I still have the original 16 inch package but they have all season rubber, not good for Canadian winters.

We are getting some of the snow storms hitting NY State and it is Comfort mode all the way. 369 pound foot is plenty slippery.

I'm getting 29 MPG with my summer tire setup. (Averaging 36 MPH)

The latest fuel consumption figure is 25.38 mpg (Imperial Gallons so it is close to your number of 29 mpg). About the same as my soon to be returned (leased) Toyota Camry SE with 4 cylinder and stick. Diesel is the way to go for performance, economy and tree-buggers.

I do mostly city driving so it is great mileage for me. I shall report back with highway numbers.
