K&N or Other airfilters for the '05/'06 CDI?

So, has anyone been able to find a good after market hi-performance air filter for the I-6 CDI?

Last I checked, we weren't deemed worthy..

E320 CDi is a very worthy car, just not in NA

As very few cars were imported to NA and there were sold only as MY2005 and 2006 it is natural no aftermarket vendor is interested in making stuff for the in-line six.

I suggest you look up some of the UK diesel car sites.

Why replace the stock filter with something inferior?

You won't see any performance gain from it, the oil can foul the MAF sensor and it will allow more dirt into the engine.

240:

I read in tdiclub.com that in a turbo the air is being compressed more than a normally aspirated engine so a "free-flow" air filter is not going to have the same benefit on a turbo.

I had a K & N installed on my old 1999 E-55 and the "hot wire" in the sensor had to be replaced - a few hundred dollars to change. I think I must have over oiled the filters. MB makes very good quality parts at reasonable prices. Parts for the older cars they make in India, South Africa and Italy. Quality is very good and prices are kept affordable. I always used genuine brake and filter parts.

I am feeling sad having to trade in my 20 year old 560 SEL soon for a new Honda Accord for the kids. At least I can concentrate on the diesel.
