Lighter pistons and crank?

Would it be possible to get a 320 up to 6 - 7k rpm if it had lighter piston and crank?

Gassers have been doin stuff like this for years and have gotten better performance...

Thank you in advance

Diesels don't work at high rpm

Even the LeMans-winning Audi maxes ~5000 rpm

There is no reason to go that high. The burn rate of diesel can't keep up with the piston velocity at that RPM.

Why?

Since a diesel is losing efficiency miserably at anything over 4K, why would you want more of a bad thing?

Why do the lose efficiency?

Is it because the speed of the burn of diesel?
