You might have V6-engine.
It has piezo-injectors.
There is no need to change, they are very good and fast.
They are good for ++300hp.

Turbo and DPF are the problems.
They limited the power under 300.

These AMG-injectors, spoken here are only for straight cyl. engines.

My E320 CDi has the straight 6 engine not the V-6. MB imported the inline 6 for two model years only, 2005 and 2006. All 2007 and up models have the V-6 engine, G7 transmission and all the new emission junk.

Starting in 2005 MB equipped all diesels, inline and V-6, with piezo injectors, the inline engines with slightly lower injection pressures than the V-6, but still in the 20,000+ P.S.I. region.

The straight 6 engine cars (2005 & 2006) have no DPF at all, only a single catalytic converter which is not monitored (no wires and sensors after the filter) so it is possible to cut it out and increase the flow without triggering check engine lights.

From your message I take it that my car can use the AMG injectors and nozzles?

picture of my catatonic pervertor

the only problem I can see is access to the upper part of the catalytic converter. It is hooked up almost immediately to the turbo.

Hollow-out of the convertor may be the only choice.

You have to remove the air box to access the exhaust line and catalytic converter.
You can remove the cat and put in a straight pipe, like I did and also Tuikku

This way you make the EGT and EGP run also a bit lower.

Ok, my mistake.

Yes, they fit "plug and play".
And they also works fine with the stock program, idling also.
Power increasing is about 30% with no more mods.
That is ok also for the original charger.
Although, reprogramming is advisable, hope you find someone there.

There could be two cat in there, at least here, in Europe are.

This is one way remove your cat.. But normally the second cat get stuck and that make higher EGT and EGB.

Is it too much bother to ask for a photo of your turbo-straight pipe-exhaust setup so I can ask the local muffler shop to do same for me?

After the warranty expires, of course.

In your photo I can see only one large cat, like my car. Where is the second cat you talked about?

Thank you Gaiex. I suspect that our CDis have or had very similar catalytic converters, given the little space between the turbo and cat. Did your car throw any check engine light after the removal of the cats?

Another question. If the EGR valve is blocked off like yours where does the exhaust go? Straight back to the system? Presumably it is not under a lot of pressure.

From Tuikku's page 3 photos I can only see one cat lying horizontally (emptied by him) after the turbo. Mine goes down obligely and lies future down to the floor pan level. So it is possible that the E320 CDi has two instead of one cat. The only way to tell is to remove the large air box which blocks the view totally.

Gaiexe´s engine room is quite similar as mine, but much much cleaner, I see.
There is nothing original in that downpipe and exhaust pipe any more.

No check engine lights.
Engine doesn´t know anything about that swap.

Hargar, EGR valve don´t move any more, when it is blocked off from program.
It is shut all the time.
Program asks "clean" air all the time.
All exhausts go straight through the charger.
EGR could leak a bit, but that is not a big harm.
Although it must be "in shape", or -> limp mode.
That is in electrical systems, like your car.
In vacuum conrolled systems, like Gaiex car, it doesn´t matter.

If you can buy injector or nozzle somewhere in very good price , tell us too..
I tried the Bosch website but could find neither the AMG injector nor nozzle part. Is there a European MB or Bosch site that you are aware of?

30% power increase (according to Mr Tuikku) is not too shabby at all.

Thank you Joshkami for pointing out part #150. I now know for sure the North American 2005-2006 E320 CDi exhaust systems do not have a second cat. Please see attached photo.

ok, I got prices for the AMG injectors, and they are cheap, very cheap!

460€ each one, this in a Bosch resseler, at MB dealer I can imagine...

This injectors they don't repair them, only factory or bigger bosch centers do it.
If they where a "normal" repaired injector it would cost +-100€ each, but they are selling only news!

Injector price

I refer to my trusty Dutch dealer:
hi Bjornar,

those injectors cost 355 euro each (new from mercedes)

greetingz,
STeve

This is from Steve Krabbenborg. What he can't get you isn't worth getting.

I know Steve very well too, but I need to buy them at my country to get an invoice, and also, that price its a bit high for what I think I can get...
+-100€ each one for reconditioned should do the trick, but I need to find someone that sell them!

Maybe the cheapest way to get Amg injector, If you find nozzle (0433171798 DLLA 156p 1256+ or even bigger Bosio power+) and you change that to your injector.
Then you have to do some modifications to your injector that they work like AMG injector or you only change nozzle and then your injector is 10-15% better.

"Tuikku" knows more about these operaations and he knows the guy who makes "AMG" injectors.

I hope somebody understands what I mean..

I can get the AMG nozzle, the problem I have is no one here wants to have the responsability to set the injectors values, no one knows what values to use, with the bigger nozzles!
So, to keep my mind free of future problems I will go with complete AMG injectors.

Bosch guys told me the AMG injectors have injection times and injection angle diferente from my stock ones.
About the timing I know that can be tunned with electronics, but what about the angle, its bad or no problem with it?

Yes they have.
Don´t worry power increase bases on that little but very important difference.
They works just fine.
