Weird issue after washing
Ok so, i have a 1999 300e Turbo diesel
everything has been fine and everything, i washed it today, and after the wash i drove home, it felt like it was going to stall as i was accelerating, and wouldnt seem to go over 2 thousand RPM very well, also felt like gears were not changing, it was jumpy like someone who doesnt know how to drive standard aswell. has this happened to anyone? and maybe the wash didnt do it, but could it be from getting too much water in that vent on the hood? that one by the windshield? its also sounding pretty weird when it idling, and sounds very weird while in park and i hit the gas.
if anyone knows why this is happening please let me know, im kinda worried about it honestly, i dont need to be fixing all kinds of stuff, but i will if needs, anyway, hope i gave enough info. thanks hope to hear from yall soon

Was the hood closed or open?
No CEL?
Could be a couple of things. Might have gotten the trans elect connection wet. Or possibly the MAF.
Let it sit overnight and hopefully it self resolves.

the hood was closed, im not too sure what a CEL is sry, if u could describe that plz.
and i really hope it self resolves. could it be a clogged fuel filter? ive been reading the forums trying to see if anyone else had the same issue.

i get it now, check engine light, oops . and no there wasnt at that time.
but now, i had to drive a buddy home, it started fine as usual, but then the check engine
light comes on, and says engine electronics, so im like %$#&
but the car seemed to be driving better( also its in W mode not standard mode)
the car was getting up to 50mph easily but seemed to be stuck on 2000 rpm again with no real acceleration, i stopped at the store to get a drink and such...
when i turned the car off i switched it into S mode from W mode, when i come back,
it starts fine as usual, check engine light is still on, i reverse out of the stall, put it in D
and then the sputter comes back and i immediatly park , shut the car off, go back into W mode, wait a min, and start it back up, again, seems fine up to 50mph but then sluggish past that ... any ideas? im going to get the error code read from a guy at work tomorrow, then take it to the dealer once ive got the code posted on here. ok thanks again hope someone can help

Lets us know the code when you get it. Some of them will reset themselves after 3 cold/hot back to cold run cycles (usually 1-1/2 days on a daily driver).
Something seems to have gotten wet, or else it is totaly unrelated. The code will tell the story.
A bad MAF on the diesels is usually very obvious; no turbo boost and feels like the engine is backing up on itself about 3k rpm.

Sounds like the MAF and is consistient with your lack of power. The dealer will prob opt to replace it only. Expensive part for what it is ($~200) but only takes a few minutes to repalce.
It is sometimes possible to clean them using CRC MAF spray cleaner (use no other cleaner). Might want to get a new air filter too if it has been a whle since its been changed. K&N (oiled) filters have been known to be the cause of MAF failures.

Just get a new MAF, it's not worth the hassle of cleaning, they never last long after cleaning anyway.
The reason why the car sounds different at idle is because the turbo vanes are in the "by-pass" position (basicly the turbo is turned off). this makes the exhaust sound deeper and louder.
Replace the MAF, clear the codes, ur car will have a bit more power than it did before too. Nothing to do with the car was, it was just it's time.

Excuse my ignorance. What is a MAF? Any photos?

Its an air meter, located downstream of the air filter.
