To idle or not to idle
We have an '05 CRD that requests we let the Liberty idle for "1 to 2 minutes" after driving. At first I was extremely diligent with this waiting processes. Now, I base this depending on what my last trip involved. Meaning, a long road trip (towing or not) I let it sit for the full 2 minutes to cool down the turbo. If am doing start and stop trips around town, perhaps 15-20 seconds of wait time. I have heard that any car with a turbo should idle for a "period of time" before turning it off.
I do not own a GL 320 (yet!) but I was curious what owners of MB diesels do for idle time before turning off the engine. Is this even listed in the owners guide?
Thank you,
Josh
In any case, its a waste of time with synthetic oil and/or a water cooled turbo.
