Yes it's an original part of the turbo. If i remember right it was welded on it.
I don't know if it makes a difference since i haven't tested without it, but i don't think they would put it there without a reason?

The whole turbo is an amg part. The compressor housing is different from the 320cdi gt2359v. Its not the same turbo even tought this is an gt2359 too.
The amg turbo is replaced at the dealer with the 320cdi turbo, since they dont produce the amg turbo any more, but its not as good.
