Gas in tank

My wife accidently put 7 gal of gas in my 2006 320 cdi before I could catch her. I stopped, and put the balance of 11 gal of diesel in the tank. I do hear a little more "engine knock" Should I drain the tank, and if so...where is the drain plug/petcock?

Any help would be appreciated

MM

The drill when this happens is ...

call a flatbed tow service
have vehicle transported to Mercedes mechanic
do NOT start the engine.

I've seen procedures on youtube I believe. Hopefully no serious damage was done!

Oh jeez.... Nothing like turning 14 gallons of fuel into 14 gallons of hazardous waste...

You need to do far more than that, you need to completely flush the fuel system.

IF the high pressure fuel pump and injectors aren't damaged then you'll only have lost a tank of fuel and the expense of flushing.

This is why my wife has never, in 41 months of GL320 ownership, filled the tank. That's my job. Barring that solution, the flatbed to the MB shop is the only other answer.

Don't be too hard on your wife. The service shop I just got my car back from, did exactly this. And had the nerve to charge me for both the engine work and replacing the fuel pump, cleaning and re-priming the engine.

Yeah, an official MB service shop did this. From now on, I'm sticking with the Haynes manual. They offered to fix the thing I originally brought it in for (bad thermostat), but at that point I didn't want them ever touching my car again, you know?
