1991 350SD fuel filter

I just replaced my primary fuel filter on my 350SD. Does the line need to be bled prior to starting? If so, can someone provide a simple explanation?
I changed the secondary filter about a month ago and I only filled the new filter with clean diesel - it started right up without any issues.

Any support would be gladly appreciated.

There is no way to bleed the system except cranking the engine until it runs (not more than 30sec though)

Thanks for the feedback - its getting difficult to find good advice on the 20 plus year old classics.
