Mercedes-Benz OM651 - twin turbo or twin scroll turbo?
I've been trying to figure out if the OM651 engine fitted to my MB C250 CDI (2011) has a twin turbo or twin-scroll turbo engine. My research indicates the former but thought I'd ask on here!

Isn't sequential twin turbo still technically twin turbo (based on reading Wiki > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twin-turbo )...
ps. I'm no expert in this but just going off what I'm reading online.

Just realised this thread makes me look like I'm talking to myself =_+
Anyway as an update, I got called by my local MB dealership in Sydney and apparently the injectors have issues and need "upgrading". It's a big piece of work so they need the car for a whole day but at least I get a courtesy car.

Yes - 2.147cc IL4 twin turbo diesel

It is a 'staged' twin turbo meaning the turbo chargers operate independantly and at different stages of each other.
The OM651 turbos are also differently sized compared to symmetrical twin turbo set ups, which are twin identicle turbos.
Twin scroll refers to a turbo charger having 2 exhaust gas inlet ports instead of 1 to propel the turbine, this is becoming common for newer petrol turbo engines, the MIVEC in the Evo 10 is one of them.

Variable vane turbine tubos are also being used in petrol turbo engines but are originally a feature of turbo diesel engines

My understanding is OM651 injector problems were found in 2008 & 2009 production engines only ?
