Looking for a good source to buy OM642 injectors

Hi all,

I've got an injector on its way out - showing signs of the "black death".

I'm just wondering if anyone has found a good source to buy these that are both reasonably priced and trustworthy.

FYI, part #6420701387

Thanks in advance . . .

Fortunately, the residue around the injector looks like it just started, so I might be able to get away with just replacing the seal.

Yep, 'black death' itself means usually not replacement injector (only if broken when removing it... then nozzle cap holder could be cracked sometimes but spare part can be bought from bosch service).

Ebay.de is full of them, less than 100€ each... price is so cheap that it does not matter if one is not good (order 1-2 extra, you can always sell them again if they are good)

I have no personal experience but I have heard many have used this site:
http://www.robi-tec.de/

Also I have no idea about delivery costs to overseas...

I didn't see any OM642 injectors on that site, but I did find another one on eBay. I think I'll buy one to have just in case.

Injector rekival

Yes, I did get it removed. It was simple. The only special tool you need is a 17mm flare nut socket in order to be able to remove and tighten the fuel line on the injector. A regular flare nut wrench will not fit in there.

I read somewhere a trick to loosen up frozen injectors.
It is a bit risky IMHO, so use it at your own risk, but I recall European member loosening the injector bolt 1 turn and taking it for short drive.

Just warm the engine up and put some acetone around the injector. The injectors actually have a pretty sloppy fit in the bore. Mine came out super easy. I think I bookmarked an instructional video. I'll see if I can find it.

I used an impact extractor on mine. They all came out very easily. I think I paid about $80USD for the tool.

I just used normal flare nut wrenches to get the hard lines off; very easy on the right side, but it was definitely tighter on the left. Still, they came off without issues.

I didn't took any chance and I bought those tools: injector remover, seal remover, manhole cleaner and a seat cutter set. mine is leaking since 2 years and I prefer to have the right tool than nothing it cost me around 350US for a 1.50$ seal ( I have to sur so far) but I will do all the six of them. in forums thatI read it was never my injector (the CDI bosh , pen
injector) may be those one are more easy to take off. here some picture of my tools.
to removed the seal if it stuck

To recut the seat if it damage

for removing injector for removing seal

I thought about getting an extractor set like that also. Having removed an injector now, despite about a 1/4" of black death caked on there, I don't think this is really necessary. The injector came out with very little force - basically, you loosen off and fully unthread the screw that tightens down the hold-down finger on the injector, then you use the screw as a lever in the hold-down finger to pry up the injector.

Fast forward to 2:20 to see the removal of the the injectors.

Yes, those injectors are slightly different than the OM642 injectors, but the procedure is the same.
