My last BMW had similar button...heated steering wheel on the BMW, loved that feature.

If I am correct, that might be an auxiliary heater switch. Some sprinters have them as well.

That sounds more like it. The steering wheel heaters are not two-stage.

Auxiliary heater compensates for the lack of heat produced by the diesel engine, especially during warm up. I haven't actually seen a toggle switch for them before
