I would have no idea what to replace it with. Besides, I'm at a point that I know the car very well and going to a gas motor isn't my thing so I would probably keep it.

As much as I like my ML250 I hope I get a buy out offer. I don't trust it anymore. Trade in value sucks and I doubt I could sell it for any more. Mine is going to the dealer Thurs. for an engine light. I'm 75 and the days of working on my own car are over. Has anyone joined the CA Suit?

Tesla electric
Smart electric
Fiat electric.
For my vacations I drive Ford Superduty with camper. Now I just wonder when Ford will have class action suit. Their 440 HP diesel is a beast, but there is no way I can figure out pollution.

To put in perspective, the Jeep/Ram diesel settlement just announced was 3k per owner
https://autoweek.com/article/diesel/...nsation-owners

Given the resale hit, seems kinda low... especially compared to the VW settlement

The software reflash does not affect average fuel economy, drivability, durability or refinement of the vehicles," FCA said in a statement

If they had a fix, and there are no affects, why cheat?

Exactly. The VW reflash supposedly resulted in slightly lower power and or gas mileage, "if" I remember correctly.

Glk250
I own a Glk250, here in Canada. I have been following closely this scandal and I'm not an expert.

My understanding is that like FCA and Mercedes might not be sued for a criminal offence( they didn't know about the level emission according to the different publication they've issued).
Mercedes might get sued for the ''wrong'' publicity of the Bluetec. There is no way this thing is even close to blue with the level of emission this car has under a certain temperature.
On the flip side, Volkswagen aknowledged they knew about the toxicity level of their diesel car. They've been trying to hide their device.
Mercedes, VW and FCA have the same diesel system produced by Bosch.
What I have heard from Canadian car expert. Mercedes is just waiting to develop the right software update before plunging into the scandal.

In Europe the recall is on its way. https://www.daimler.com/innovation/d...ecall-faq.html
In Canada many class action are on this case http://www.mercedesbluetecclassaction.ca/home-en.html

Funny I don't see E250 BT on the recall list, BUT GLK with the same engine is.
Comparing my US model to European models with the same engine, the programs in them differ quite a bit.

In this year if things go OK I’ll be ridding myself of an Audi A8L and Genesis Coupe and an e36, replacing only one probably but two possibly, I have to try my hand at the OM642 e320 07-09 build which are now near free and I still want a little 2dr Golf TDI 2010-2013 for my heaviest commuting. Then my home fleet of vehicles will be almost all diesel. These scandals help dumpster prices for tinkering type owners like me and diesel in general already has a crappy reputation, honestly it’s well earned here. If left stock no modern diesel seems likely to be a 500,000k mile motor by any stretch. Hopefully I’ll see about that from my OM648 before cars gets destroyed in traffic. It’s only a matter of time.

Try to tell it any semi-truck owner, or pickup owner of last generation.
The 6.7 l diesel Ford makes for last few years is a beast with over 900 of torque and good reputation.

That's a great question. It seems obvious that VW had a packaging problem with DEF tanks on their smallest cars. It doesn't explain why VW or FCA cheated on their larger vehicles or how/why BMW was able to (mostly) meet the requirements.

as the owner of both an awesome 7.3 liter Ford and a nightmarish 6.0 Ford...oh the stories I could tell, receipts I could show. My mercedes has been almost free to own for last 160k miles, I’m driving it into the ground or salvage yard when it finally dies.

Hopefully they will at least offer a 10 year unlimited warranty to those who accept a software re-flash. MB must have spent years testing the original software, who knows how changes will affect the car long term.Resale of MB diesel cars is pretty shot at this point because of the complex emission system

I’m hoping for an outcome like I got with my 2014 A6 TDI - they “fixed” the emissions and I got about $10k from VW/Audi for my “pain and suffering”

Not likely. VW fine amount was because of continued lying to CARB and EPA; not violating emission standards.

Not $10K but maybe $3K. Got my $10K from VW on my Cayenne Diesel. $3K for my GL320 that I just sold would work as well! Glad I kept all my registration and DMV plate disposition papers.

GLK 350
I have had diesel problems and have joined the suit against Mercedes... at one point my 2014 GLK250 was in the shop 7 weeks, and again and again and it still is emitting noxious ammonia smelling exhaust emissions to the point your eyes water.. it is intermittent but happens a lot.....

I doubt this will go anywhere just like it didn’t in 2016 imo, people have been trying to go after them ever since they were caught in Europe. They weren’t technically caught because out of this whole scandal they were the only company that wasn’t fined, BMW VAG etc were all fined. What happened was they installed software to protect the engine in cold conditions when the driver was accelerating harder on a cold engine, so they couldn’t really get fined. And ever since that this US lawsuit has sparked back up and I feel like it’s not going to go anywhere.
