Whining/scratchy noice from around EGR valve
I have 07 e320 and I just did a oil cooler change and I have a loud whining noice when I accelerate. The noice looks like it’s coming from around my EGR valve area not sure what it can be. The dealership said it might be a bad o-ring but not sure. When I let off the gas you can’t really hear it anymore..

I had the same annoying noise, but it disappeared as soon as my mother in-law got out of the vehicle......

Jokes aside, are you describing a boost leak?
Usually they sound like a whistle, like whistling through your teeth, and yes it's when you "gas on it".
The EGR valve is near the firewall, but you may be talking about the inlet/blend assembly in front of the motor?
Regardless, I wouldn't try to locate leak by ear but rather look for oil leak(s) and replace leaking orings and seals, checking connections on the pressurized path from turbo around to the intake manifolds.
Something's either loose or wasn't replaced.
