You are missing the point here. This car is still for sale, why? Because it's not worth $8k. It's worth $5k. You are confusing asking price with selling price aka actual value.
You are correct that you need a buyer who WANTS a diesel, but guess what? That buyers KNOWS most people DON'T want a diesel and they will expect that to be reflected in the price!

I'm not really sure what you are trying to accomplish. Do a local search on any w164 ML in Socal and see how many you can get under 100k mi and in near new condition for $8k. I also love how people try to save a few grand on an old German car; get one that's not maintained well and you'll dump another 5 grand into it in hurry. It's like people buying older Porsches and then be surprised how much it costs when something breaks; $100k cars have $100k fixes.

Anyway, you are right all across the board, does that help ?

Not really. It's $3k more than yours = 11 k "ASKING PRICE"
AND 2 YEARS NEWER THAN YOURS !!

Let's say it will sell for $10k, minus $1k/per model year that leaves your 2008 at...guess what? $8k!

Your ML is worth less money each day that goes by.

You're in a state of denial.

So, that is ONE comparable vehicle; similar miles and less than $1k difference; seems like my price isn't far off. Anyway, you clearly love arguing just for the hell of it. Moving on with my day. I was asking about websites to list diesel models, not a pissing contest on price. You made your point, can we move on?

The buy me now offers usually are 30-40% lower than actuall trade-in value.
Tried it selling my Ford Dually and when offer from local Ford dealer come at $33k, the next door Dodge dealer paid me $44k on private listing.
Speculating on blue books and advertisement will never give you good picture of the market.
When I want real value, I go on ebay and in advanced search you can choose "sold" listings.
That is a bit harder to compare when you have rare vehicles and 1 or 2 sales recorded. Actually for ML320cdi ebay has none sold.

I'm sorry I don't know of any diesel specific sites for you, and I honestly don't see how that will help sell your ML. My point was not to argue but to answer part of your question (statement) as to why you've received no offers here. It's only worth what somebody is willing to pay.

When that is true fact, the market perception can change quite drastically.
It happen several times in history that semi-classic car would have low value, but when presented in good movie- its value would skyrocket.
At present Bluetecs still suffer from bad propaganda, but the settlement-forced AEM and extended warranties come to play just 2 months ago.
Give it a year and 60 mpg luxury cars will likely pick up present $7k values. Diesels in USA have what eggs had for long time - BAD WRAP.

In about a year or less, the 2020 167 GLE's (junk) will be coming off leases and flooding the market, making the 164 ML 3 models old. While the 164 was a great car (except the diesels and early m272/3 balance shafts) that will certainly push prices downward, similar to what happened to the 163 ML's; you can barely give them away any more. I sold my 2005 163 last year, 140k miles for $1800.

When I don't have number of sales for 2020, I was surprised when EPA notes revealed numbers of Bluetec vehicles in USA.
With about 5000 sedans there is over 100,000 Sprinters sold here.
So whatever the number is, I doubt we can talk about flooding the market.
Sprinters don't share the bad wrap what cars and SUV have. I read on Sprinter forum that to get new Sprinter the wait is over 6 months. Few members doing AEM, got Sprinter loaners with gasoline engine for the time of repair.
They concluded them junk.
