Diesel classifieds?

You are correct that you need a buyer who WANTS a diesel, but guess what? That buyers KNOWS most people DON'T want a diesel and they will expect that to be reflected in the price!

Anyway, you are right all across the board, does that help
?

AND 2 YEARS NEWER THAN YOURS !!
Let's say it will sell for $10k, minus $1k/per model year that leaves your 2008 at...guess what? $8k!
Your ML is worth less money each day that goes by.
You're in a state of denial.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG

Tried it selling my Ford Dually and when offer from local Ford dealer come at $33k, the next door Dodge dealer paid me $44k on private listing.
Speculating on blue books and advertisement will never give you good picture of the market.
When I want real value, I go on ebay and in advanced search you can choose "sold" listings.
That is a bit harder to compare when you have rare vehicles and 1 or 2 sales recorded. Actually for ML320cdi ebay has none sold.

It happen several times in history that semi-classic car would have low value, but when presented in good movie- its value would skyrocket.
At present Bluetecs still suffer from bad propaganda, but the settlement-forced AEM and extended warranties come to play just 2 months ago.
Give it a year and 60 mpg luxury cars will likely pick up present $7k values. Diesels in USA have what eggs had for long time - BAD WRAP.

With about 5000 sedans there is over 100,000 Sprinters sold here.
So whatever the number is, I doubt we can talk about flooding the market.
Sprinters don't share the bad wrap what cars and SUV have. I read on Sprinter forum that to get new Sprinter the wait is over 6 months. Few members doing AEM, got Sprinter loaners with gasoline engine for the time of repair.
They concluded them junk.
