Can anyone suggest appropriate adapter to test engine compression? It has to be via the glow plug and that's M8x1.00.
few that I found on ebay have a short thread which makes me cautious but glow plug thread is short too so perhaps my concern of the adapter flying out and destroying the threads isn't valid.

Yeah, this. As long as you don't inject any fuel into the cylinder, and get combustion, your compression pressure should be in the range of around 500 psi. The area of an 8mm fitting is around 0.08 square inches, so the actual force on the threads is roughly 40 lbs.
Don't know. Some high pressure pumps can draw enough fuel without a transfer pump to cause trouble, Better if you can disable the injectors directly, but, then, maybe it won't crank, either.
You better get proper scanner for the test.
Those engines can have simulated compression test, where computer compares rpm while turning each cylinder.
Takes about a minute, once you have scanner set up.
With this car, when the engine is cold, running MB xentry compression test suggests running compression on all cylinders. But when the engine is warm, the das crank test passes.

Run the simulated compression test utilizing my MB xentry on a cold and warm engine. Test fails on a cold engine ( I get a difference of 22 rpms and should be under 7 if i recall correctly) and suggests I do compression on all 6 cylinders. But the car runs well when cold and warm.
Right after completing the oil cooler seals change, the car would not start. Star diagnostics begins with running the simulated compression test. Results of that test on a cold engine suggested performing compression test.

When gauged compression test will be more accurate, it will not fix bad cylinders.
22 on 7 allowable doesn't mean the engine is bad, just has weaker cylinder.
What is mileage and history of the engine?

have a peak at the attached images. The test was done with the engine being off for 3 days.
The car runs great now. Warm or cold. But for curiosity I will check compression once I get the compression adapter. So far, this one seems to be the best imho but I'm failing to understand why the tester has to be long enough to reach the compression chamber.
