Exclamation GL350 X166 Oil Filter Housing Issue (OM642)

My 2015 GL350 X166 has an oil leak at the lower part of the oil filter housing. Apparently Mercedes-Benz (via dealer and from official MBPARTS using my VIN) shows the part compatible with my X166 2015 GL350 is 642-180-07-10, which there is ZERO stock in the US. For some strange reason my 2015 GL350 has part 642-180-14-10 currently installed, which does not have the plug for the sensor cable on the connecting tube (643-180-07-10 does). Even more weird is that my engine is for sure the original engine that was installed on the car from factory (matching engine numbers - one owner). Also using my VIN, it shows that part 642-180-14-10 (currently installed) is NOT compatible with my car!!
Did any of you experienced the same issue? Are there any X166 GL350 owners here that can share their part number and maybe a pic of the oil housing part number installed on their GL350 (the part # is printed on the connecting aluminum tube and easy to find)?

Thank you all.

That can all be defined if the dealer would take the time to research the changes made on VIN---if not do it yourself and subscribe to MB WIS

So you want whole housing replaced becouse of seal leak?
The mid-seals are available.

You are right Kajtek1. I was just thinking of buying just the seals (even though they are aftermarket), and right after I noticed your message.
The leak is from the middle seal, which I believe I can change it myself. I have the tools, but I don't know if a lot of oil will start coming out. Will do some research first.

Thank you,
LL

When getting on the job - loosen the filter first and give it at least 1 hr, what will drip the oil from the housing down the crankcase.
I did the job few years back and don't recall it being difficult, but I keep my engines clean all the time and I washed the oil residue before doing the job.

Thank you kajtek1.
The pic below shows the gasket I need to replace.
So just to make sure I understand correctly. If I open the filter housing top, and let it sit for 1-2 hours, the oil will drip down to the crankcase and then I will be able to separate the two parts without having oil coming out and without having to drain the engine oil from the bottom oil drain plug. Is that correct?

Thank you

Yes. You can still expect some oil drips when you unbolt the housing, but at least you avoid 1/2 liter splash this way.
