Anyone install a radar detector yet in a Cab? Is there a 12v socket in the passenger footwell like many other cars?

There is a 12v socket in the glove box and in the center console ashtray.

The glovebox also has a small removable plug that allows you to run a wire from the glovebox into the side access panel (between the dash and the door) - perfect for running power up the A-Pillar to your radar detector.

*bump*

If anyone has hardwired a radar detector in the coupe or convertible could you please share your experience, tips, technique, and possibly some photos.

Thank you.

Yes I did one from the top of the windshield on the drivers side to the glovebox connector, so you don't need to splice anything. Run a straight wire with the male 12v socket on one end and the radar connector on the other. Ran the wire through the rearview mirror/reading lights casing and then continued across the passenger side between the top of the windshield glass and headliner over to the passenger A-pillar(it's loose in here so I wrapped the cord with the small sized spiral plastic wire wrap to add thickness). Then across the rear face of the A-pillar and under the outside weather stripping that is between the pass side window and the A-pillar down to where you are even with the bottom of the glass on the window. Then back across towards the interior of the car to behind the glove box.
My wire was a little wider so that's why I routed it this way. The 12v in the glove box goes on and off with the ignition key too.
It's always better to mount the radar detector as high as possible for a cleaner field of view to the horizon.

Thank you for being so prompt in your response. I will be installing one in my coupe over the holidays.

I contacted my dealership about this today. They are getting back to me on the new K40 system, Passport 9500ci, and the Passport Qi45. I will let you know what they say.
