Is anybody else not happy about MB releasing a new C class coupe so close to releasing the E coupe. Initially I read that it would be built on a shortened C chassis. Haven't heard anymore about that. But, if built on the same chassis as our cars I hope they at least make it significantly different looking than the E. I paid for an E and now they're bringing out a coupe that's thousands cheaper. Not being a snob. I just liked having something unique.

At the end of the day it will still be a C class and not an E class. It will certainly be lacking features and luxury amenities that come with our cars.

I'm wondering if the C class coupe rapes the E coupe in sales... Might be a one generation pull for the E coupe and personally, I think the E coupe is stunning, it a beautiful update to the 209 CLK. The C coupe is very sporty too but I'd be sad to see the E coupe go. Very strange marketing by MB.

The C coupe won't be as sexi as the E coupe is.

Well I think I may have come up with MB's reasoning. I just read on Edmunds that 80% of BMW's 3 series sales are the 328i and the same for LEXUS with 80% of the IS sales the IS250. That seems really high to me but if true people are going for the least expensive of the line. That would explain why MB would want to get a C coupe to the market place. As far as the E class either it sold so well MB realized that there was a demand for coupes or they missed their demographics and found that the coupe appeals more to the C class buyer. I'm sure they missed their demographics with me, i'm 63 and should be driving a sedan. But, if Mercedes hadn't built the E class coupe I wouldn't be driving a Mercedes.

^^ Well said Steelgrey, me too and even similar demographic as you. The E350c brought me to MB and then got a GL Bluetec to go along with it for the family. I wouldn't have been interested in a C coupe. Like the E coupe so well that might even look at the 2012 E550c with the new engine when it comes out.

In truth, an E Coupe will still be at least as special when a C Coupe comes out.

The E Coupe will be the luxury / superior offering. You can laugh at the C Coupes. Honestly, in terms of sedans, I think there are some benefits to the C.

However, in the coupes, the E Coupe already has the W204 based chassis, it's the right size now with a luxurious interior. A C coupe will not be able to match the E Coupe. The C Coupe will be an entry coupe in Mercedes lineup, and most will be like C sedans, hardly any options on the lot and priced to have the lowest sticker possible.

We will look at the C coupe owners in the way that the CL owners look at us.

Now come...on. When I bought my E the salesman made a big deal of welcoming me to the Mercedes family. That means that the SLS AMG, AMG, S class drivers are all my brothers. Just one big happy family.

Yeh...right!!! Just a little bit of sarcasm.
