2012 e350
Just picked up a white E350 coupe today and I am loving it! Just a quick question.. My LED lights on the front bumper do not turn on at night with my headlights.. but they do turn on when the car is off and the key is still in the ignition... Any ideas?
Hope that helps.
Most the time I have my headlights switched on and the DRLs are on but dimmer than normal, as per my signature pic.
Take the car back and tell them to sort it, express displeasure at having a car that isn't functioning properly considering how much it cost and the brand etc, should get it sorted quicker that way
I'll have a look and see if I can get to the bulbs later on and let you know if I can see what they are.

So if a 2012 E Coupe has P2 Package, will the LEDs and headlights be ON at the same time? Anyone can confirm?
Thanks!
One picture shows the DRL's at full brightness when the headlights are off.
Another shows the DRL's still on but at reduced brightness when the headlights are on. At night, the DRL's at reduced brightness look somewhat brighter than shown in the picture.
The master lighting switch is in the "A" position and the DRL's were programmed to function this way in the Settings menu.
Quite surprising this cannot be done with P1.

I took the car into the dealer. Three different front-desk servicemen looked at the car and couldn't figure it out. Finally, once it had been in the shop, a smirking mechanic came over to me and showed us all what idiots we were. He got a pretty good kick out of the befuddled servicemen.
I read on a Taiwanese forum lately they have the same issue for W204 C Class and W212 E Class with halogen lighting. They also confirmed DRL stays on all the time for the ones with xenon package. The official reply from MB Taiwan is this is a code related issue and they can't do anything about it. However, one owner reported that he has a C Class in China and the dealer there helped to apply an authorization from MB Headquarter Germany. He was informed to bring the car back 3 days after the application. The dealer plugged in the computer, input the authorization (code or number) and the DRL is now on all the time.
Some of the owners have access to Xentry diagnosis DAS and claimed the setting could be easily changed by activating ILS (Intelligent Light System) from within Xentry. Well, they got together this weekend and couldn't make it work. They checked and compared the on board computer of C200s (with ILS and xenon lighting) and C180s (halogen lighting and w/o ILS) and found the part numbers aren't the same.
I'm still confused after reading all of these but it seems MB intentionally doesn't want the DRL to be on when the main light is on, for the ones without ILS (or AFL, Adaptive Front Lighting). The article in the following link seems to touch a little bit of it.
