E250 Coupe 2011 vs 2012 in terms of fuel consumption
hi Guys,
I have a 2011 E250 CGI coupe car and i am wondering why there is so much difference in terms of fuel consumption from the 2012 E250 CGI. I have notice that the 2012 model its by 20% more fuel efficient. Is this because of the new 7g plus gearbox or because of the start and stop function??????

Please find below a table that shows the fuel consumption of 2011 and 2012 modes
2012
Fuel consumption (urban) 31.7 mpg Fuel consumption (extra urban) 51.4 mpg Fuel consumption (combined) 42.2 mpg
2011
Fuel consumption (urban) 25.9 mpg Fuel consumption (extra urban) 47.1 mpg Fuel consumption (combined) 36.2 mpg
Also for E350 and for E500 they have change the engine in the 2012 model did they change the engine and for E250 CGi as well????

The new gearbox (7G+), engines (direct injection amongst other changes) and stop/start (if available in your region) are the main reasons for the better fuel economy, for MY2012 the 350 V6 engine is a new unit as is the 4.7l V8 to power the 550. There's a new 265HP 3.0 diesel as well for the 350CDI. All are more efficient, not sure if there were any changes to the 220/250 CDIs and the 200/250CGIs other than gearbox and stop/start it will be listed somewhere though.
All that said you will never realistically get near to the stated figures that MB quote as they're done on a rolling road and don't take in to account real world driving conditions, mine is no where near the stated figures but I didn't buy it for those figures.

E200C-Fully loaded, Obsidian Black, ILS, Panoramic roof and some other bits and pieces.
Mine is a 2012 E200 CGI with 7G tronic and ECO stop/start function, have driven about 1200 km so far, no fancy racing habits and my average is 9.8l/100km.

Moreover can you please give us your feedback about the eco start/stop function?? Do you find it useful or its a bit disturbing when your driving ans lastly do you have that function enabled on your e200 cgi or disabled?

The ECO function is always on and I find it very useful indeed, the ECO stop/start function in the E coupe is a superior system when comparing to the one being offered in the BMW, Ive been driving a new BMW X1 and when the function is activated you can definitely notice the engine shutting off and on again with a noticeable kick but in my car the Process is very smooth.
There is another system which I tend to use a lot behind a red light or heavy stationary traffic and it’s the HOLD function, nothing to do with fuel economy but yet I like it

The hold function is fantastic but the only down side is the bright brake lights which drivers behind me don't seem to like at night!
Great news on the B20S Xaniar, knew it wouldn't take you long to go for it!! Seems like a pretty standard price then - similar to how much it is over here, think it is a very simple installation on your new 2012 model from what I've read it just connects to the CANBUS system so no need for there to be extra cables around under the bonnet.
