2012 GLK 350--AMG Package 20" Chromed Wheels, Loaded
For what it is worth, my wife has the new 2012 C-250 with Command Sys and the texting is on her system, along with the 3D. I on the other hand, just got the 2012 GLK350 loaded out and it doesn't have the new Nav system--still ver 2009 with no 3D or texting. Texting is supposed to be available on your car though.

I have everything (3D, etc), except for texting - that's why I was asking if it was phone dependent... meaning, if doesn't receive the info, the text portion of the screen won't light up...

I believe that is correct. If you do not have texting on your phone, then it would not be available on your command system since it doesn't recognize it via your bluetooth. BTW, I'm very jealous of your (and my wife's) Nav system! light years ahead of the one in the 2012 GLK. It seems that the GLK model is the only model that they didn't upgrade the nav system in! Bummer for me but great for you guys with the new system-LOL.

Yeah, it sees the phone, can stream Pandora, send and receive calls, and send more texts from my phone than I care to admit. I have a Droid Incredible... I'm ditching it this year for the iPhone5. That seems to be the way MB's going with integration into the B class.

I must have misunderstood--though the answer would be the same. Are you saying you are getting texts or your not? It's all based on whether or not your phone has text messaging or not. Two other notes: my wife's C250 also reads the texts out loud to her which in CA is a good thing since texting while driving is not allowed; and we both have Blackberry 9810 Torches and both work absolutely perfect with the Command system--just mine doesn't get text messages
Both cars/Command systems downloaded the address/contacts instantly and with no issues, allowing for voice command dialing as well.
