I had posted this originally on in the Detailing section but did not get a response. This is my first soft top convertible and wondered if anyone uses a product to preserve and protect the top. If so, what do you recommend?

Hello ! I have used the Gtech products and to be honest I have not found them to be that effective. The image of them beading is highly misleading!!! Mercedes do their own cleaner and protector which I have used on my own car and found them to be okay. They are not that expensive but they can only be used on the later E class Cabs A207. They are not to be used on the C class Cab.....

RaggTopp Fabric Convertible Top Cleaner & Protectant Kit - endorsed by Haartz, the manufacturer of MB vert tops. Don't know if I'm violating MBWorld etiquette by posting the following, but here's where I get all my detailing gear: http://www.autogeek.net/fabric-conve...-care-kit.html
Used it on my 06 CLK55 Cabrio top - looks brand new, and repels water nicely.

Hey Dudley, saw your post. Just wanted to pass along that I get all my detailing gear from AutoGeek. I've got no association with them, just a satisfied customer. I spend about four to five hours a week detailing my car. I use a variety of products, and lots of it, so I thought I'd pass along my source to someone who's looking for input. Cheers!

Fabric Top Protector
I've had a lot of convertibles and a product called 303 Tech Fabric Guard which is available from Autogeek is the best fabric protector I've ever seen. It lasts at least 3 years. It is used a lot in the boating business to protect boat covers & sails. They also make a 303 cleaner; works great.
