I think I need softer springs

I think I need softer springs. I thought on the test rides the sport suspension was fine. But on the crappy roads where I live it's a bit harsh. I wish there was an adjustment for rebound dampening. I've read several posts where owners installed stiffer springs or to lower the car. I assume I could do the reverse and swap the sport springs for the luxuray without any issues. As far as I know the only difference between the luxuray and sport is the spring length.

If you have 19" wheels you should also consider smaller wheels, I have both 18" amg wheels and 17" mercedes wheels for winter use, the car is much softer on the 17" wheels even compared to 18"......... I prefer my 17" wheels for side quality!!!! See if you can borrow a set of 17" wheels and see if they make a difference?????? I appreciate the aesthetics of !9" etc, but some smaller wheels can look as good without compromising road holding.......

Raven, thanks. I have the 18" AMG rims. I'd have to see if a 17' wheel would clear the brake calibers. I may try the longer springs and go to a 50 aspect ratio tire.

17" rims is the smallest you can go with the AMG sport version calipers (which is what my car has), as I said I have 17" rims on at the moment!!!!

Here are my 17" winter wheels, I use these Mercedes wheels for winter as the AMG diamond cut wheels are so prone to corrosion!!!

The 17" wheels of your Mercedes theraven333 are really impressive. I even do like the color of your car matches your wheels

Ahem, I'm going to eat my own words. I dont think i gave the dport suspension a fair assessment. We had a nice warm up weather wise yesterday so I took the car out for good spin. I had to take the CLK in for an emissions check in Annapolis. So retraced the route in the E350 to compare the ride. Even with the sports suspension the E350 ride is far superior and handles like a dream. It's maybe a tad tighter but it deals well with rough and imperfect road surfaces. On smooth road it's spot on. I own some fast motorcycles and ride them hard in the turns. But cars have always been transportation, lately luxuray transportation. The new E350 is changing that. I think this car is going to get me in trouble.

Champaign, thanks I was thinking of giving that a shot. The rear tire is only a 35 aspect ratio so I wouldn't go too low for fear of damaging a rim on a pothole. I think when I need tires I'm going get a 45 aspect ratio on the front and a 40 on the back and run 30 psi. An extra 5 on the AR should only add a half inch and be OK. In the mean time 30 psi and enjoy the ride eh?

i am running 30 PSI all winter 18" AMG OE wheels , no problems
at summer i am running 35-37 PSI , 2 PSI more on rear due to stuggered setup
having second winter 17" set is a very good idea
