See if this helps: post 35 above https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-c...ml#post6900015 + next page - unclip backrest release with wedge (line 8), unhook Bowden cable (9, 10, and 11).

I know this is fairly old, but here are the instructions to remove and replace the handle. I hope this is helpful to someone.

I was able to replace both handles. The second handle went so much quicker! The handles were ordered from Mercedes Parts Factory (Jonathan). The price ($34 ea) was half of what my local dealer charges, and Jonathan was great to work with.
If anyone needs to replace the handle and would like some tips, feel free to email me at dmpham@sbcglobal.net and I will walk you through it.
Important; If you're going to do this, remember to disconnect at the negative battery terminal or you'll mess up and cause your SRS code to come on. Ask me how I know!

Recently bought v low mileage E250 2012 Coupe but v low mileage (UK). Fabulous car except for 2 bad hand cuts on the handles. So info about solutions is really helpful. I shall try the Portsmouth MB dealer and a v good Horndean MB specialist for their quotes first

I'd glady trade my e550 for e250, but alas the US didn't get them. So far so good on the carbon fiber look wrap, but I wrapped them before the flake.

Just happened on my 2014 E350 Coupe and it's out of warranty. Estimated $500-$600 CAD to replace. I think thats for both pieces - Didn't get a formal quote, but most of it is labour. Pieces are relatively inexpensive according to the dealer.

Yes the seat has to come apart, my carbon fiber wrap is doing well, for $40.

I can even tell with the new part replacement, the problem still exists. The chrome paint will peel out after a period of time. It is the design problem.

Hi
I just owned my 2011 Mercedes E350 coupe.
I need to buy the Handle for folding the front seat, can anyone tell me the Manufacturer number of the left and right one?

I replaced both front seat back release levers on my 2010 E550 last week. Took about 2 hours to do both sides, which is what the dealer quoted me. A fiddly PITA job from start to finish, but it's done now.

Peeling seat handle - sliced my damn finger open
Really disappointing that Mercedes would make such a faulty product. I sliced my finger open.(on Mother's Day! ) Wasn't aware this is a big problem. Don't know why people on this thread are replacing the faulty part, instead of just removing and painting. I think that's what I'll do.
