facelifted coupe "dipped"
#26
Did you ever look into getting the car wrapped, vs dipped? I would guess the wrap would last longer and could be fixed easy if damaged. I've seen some wrapped merc couple on you tube that look amazing.
From PlastiDip site:
How long does Plasti Dip® last? If properly applied, Plasti Dip® will last as long as 3 years without having to be retouched. It is very durable and will not lose it's bond. The spray distance when applying as well as the amount of coats applied will heavily determine the longevity of the product. After 3 years, or during the three years if desired, a new refresher coat can be easily applied.
from Xytek site:
Two year product warranty for fading and cracking
How durable is it?
Our attentive and tested process of applying the plastic coating allows for a strong, enduring surface. It will protect the under paint against mild acts of vandalism, minor accidents and scrapes, and repels rock chips. This won’t just come off with a few rubs of a finger, use the coating in conjunction with the adhesion promoter to give enhanced durable surface on already raw plastic bumpers or parts, chrome or steel bumpers.
How long does it last?
We offer a 2 year material replacement warranty on the product for fading, cracking or premature, non incidental peeling. With the proper care such as keeping the surface area clean and using our recommended cleaners and sealers, you can get 2 – 5 times that amount of life out of the product.

Ideally, I'd like to experiment myself and spray my own car. So if I feel like a change of colors, buy some gallons, prep the car, spray away. And if I dislike it, I peel it off.
If I were to wrap though, I'm very partial to those brushed aluminum looks.

So, a change of colors. A pearl white by the name of "Balloon White." I am contemplating painting the Vossens a gray or dark silver or some sort, so the stock AMGs are on it right now.
Forgot to mention, I also peeled the mirrors so they are black, with the base of them white. Thinking of going with the CF mirror covers, maybe a rear spoiler too. I've always liked the black and white look.

Looks great!
Love the Vossens - they remind me of the C7 rims I used to have on my C230 Coupe - only better of course. Benz added similar seven-spoke style to the W204 coupe too.
I'll have to look into getting a set
PS. What made you decide to change the color from the grey to white? Just curious.

Going off your username, I'm guessing you don't live in Houston, otherwise I'd sell them to you for a good price! I'm thinking of going with a different look on wheels.

Well, the wheels are causing me headaches with tire sizes, who can or can't mount them, my springs settling realllly low.
So I've dropped the price to 1600.

How is the dip lasting? Would be interested in your observations of it now that you have had it on for a while. I'm curious as to how durable they are and / or if there is any issues from stone chips, etc (I know it's meant to resolve that issue to some extent).
Thanks
