Valets Made A Fuss over my E550 Cab
Left a wedding a bit early last night, and while waiting for the Mrs. the valets started poring over the car...looking at the LED headlamps and remarking what a great looking car it is. They asked to see the engine and took pictures of the engine compartment. They couldn't believe it had a biturbo V8. Does this happen to you?

Haha nice story.
I was driving slowly through a town doing road construction this weekend, avoiding potholes - a Police women directing traffic came up to my car, and complimented me on it.

I don't go out often, but when I do...I drink Dos Equis...I mean, and when I do and valet, it's kind of nice they often park it up front next to other cars worth much more.

I rarely valet, but strangely am getting less concerned as time goes by. I'm almost tickled at the thought of a bunch of 20 year olds flying around in the car. As long as no one gets hurt and no friggin' door dings or scraped wheels.

Arrived at a nice local steak house (which is valet only) early for dinner and they parked me right up front and off to the side not near any other cars. As I was leaving I happen to be standing next to a lady waiting to get her Bentley and she gave me a hard time about them putting my car in "her" spot... All in fun though. She actually complimented my '15 E550 Cab.

Do you have a '15 or '13 cab. How do they compare if you have a '15 now?

PJ,
Still have the '13 550 Cab - its my wife's car that we bought in late 2013 and is a keeper for a long while. I cycle through MB employee lease cars every 6-9 months and have been getting E-Cabs for the summer and CLS's for the winter months - Yes, I have it rough... This past summer I had a '15 E550 Cab. I liked the updated rear end and diffuser look on the '15 but hated the smaller front brakes on the '15 (I think you may have heard that before ). I really like both the more classic look of the '12-'13 and also the updated post '14 refresh.

Any word on whether MB is going to address the smaller front brakes issue in future revisions of the E? Just curious if they realize it's an issue with some owners.

Has anyone noticed rotor warping, increased fade or reduced stopping power on the '15 brakes.
By the way, my car is a '14, and just had the front rotors and pads replaced under warranty. I complained from the first week I owned the car that I felt a brake shudder at higher speeds. MB replaced my front brakes after a year of ownership and 4800 miles. I would bet the '14 brakes have issues requiring the redesign to the rotors used on the '15s.

Nice, that would be my dream to refresh as easily as you.

The brakes on the '15 E550 cab/coupe have far less stopping power and feel (and I have felt some fading) but they are not a redesign for the '15 E550, they are just some standard brakes across many current platforms like SLK250, E350 sedan, etc. that they just threw on the '15 to stop the warranty problems with the '12-'14 brakes.
"I just had all four pads and rotors replaced on my '14 550 cabriolet. 14,000 miles. Pronounced shuddering when applying brakes to slow down at highway speeds, though it was even noticeable on the street. Took it to my dealer. Service rep test drove for one block. "Yup", feels like warping. Let me see what I can do." Next day, the car was returned with all 4 rotors and pads replaced "Under Warranty". The rep said, "Something was up there. MBZ seems to be aware of this problem ... "
