Brake pad and rotor replacement (DIY)
Hi,
I've noticed there instructions for a DIY for the C-class (https://mbworld.org/how-tos/a/merced...-rotors-387311), but was wondering if it would also apply to the E-Class coupe (C207). Specifically, I was looking at replacing the front pads and rotors.
Also, are there any brands/combinations to recommend? (I live in Canada, so my options are quite limited outside of going to the dealer...I was thinking of getting my parts from RockAuto.)

There are several DIY YouTube videos although not sure for your specific year and for Coupe but I'm sure very similar process. Example:

thanks for the reply. Yep, I've seen that one, though the brakes seem a bit different. Replacement pads on my 2011 E550 coupe are not the same.

I have replaced all of the pads ie four corners on my car, and found it straight forward. Changing the discs only entails removing the calliper carrier bracket, two bolts each and the single screw on each disc.
In fact I found it easier to do than on my previous BMW's.
Make sure you use penetrating fluid on the single bolt on the disc face as often they can seize and it is also soft metal so you can easily damage the head. Pain in the butt to drill out. Makes sense to replace all of them.
I would also change the anti squeal clips, they are cheap to buy and are often overlooked when doing the brakes. Many don't replace then wonder why their brakes squeal after doing the work.

Which ones are the anti squeal clips that you mention above. Also the procedure of replacing the brakes is the same as the ones shown in the video above? Lastly which brand of brake disk and pads are you using?

Front caliper removal
I took a quick look at the front caliper setup on my 2012 E550 Cabrio to prepare for replacing the pads and rotors and would someone please confirm the following. The way I see it is, remove the torx bolt securing the anti squeal clip on the outside, unscrew the 2 sliding bolts in behind , unplug the wear sensor and slide the caliper off the carrier bracket. The setup appears different than others I have done in that the anti squeal clips are retained by a bolt.

Thanks but my 550 Cabrio is a different setup, I believe the WIS write up which I also have pertains to the 350 not 550, which I think is the AMG brakes.
