Changing steering wheel and shifter to wood/leather

Hi Guys,

I literally just bought a 2013 E550 yesterday and wanted to do some interior changes. I wanted to change the steering wheel and the shift stick to the wood/leather verson.

My VIN is WDDKJ7DB5DF183186

so here is my main question, i see there are 2 variation of the steering wheel,

The part# 2184601618 is the steering wheel with lane assist which my vehicle has

and the other is 2184604003 which does not have the lane assist.

is there actually a difference, they look completely alike.

also i cant seem to find the part number to the shifter knob. I am look for the ash wood/leather transmission shifter (automatic)

any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!

Your buying it new from the dealer????? Crazy. What I think can be the difference is the circutboard inside the wheel and the vibrator. The wheel it self is the same. This means you can move these over from your old wheel and then you can buy ANY wheel you want from any model you want like W212,W204,W172 and on and on..

Just a warning, that wood on the steering wheel gets really hot in the summer. I've got one car with that wheel (wife's car) and one with the regular wheel and I'd never trade mine for hers. It does look nice though.

Thank you Chris, so i would have to buy the one with the lane assist... dammit... i kinda wish i didnt have to as i see alot of used ones on ebay for 500bucks but none thats with the lane assist...

or do you mean to disect the whole wheel and move the board and vibrator over to the wheel with the wood trim? can that actually be done???

as for heat, i live in a city where its fog, fog, and more fog, and only about 65 degrees during summer.

Yes of course it can be done. Just sits with a set of screws No big deal. Just move it over to any same style wheel you like.

Why would you need that? It is just a module that sits with 4 screws. Just take it out and then ft it in the new wheel and conect the conectors. Same with the know. You can buy any knob for W204,W212,GLK,W207 and so on. All fits...

FWIW. I just changed the steering wheel on my car from cracked wood to leather. I much prefer the feel of the leather wheel.

Thank you Chris, I've just ordered a Dark ash wood wheel and swap it with my current one! thank you for all your answers, it really helped!

Do you have any connections to purchase interior trim pieces? I want to swap mine out from the burl wood trim to the dark ash wood trims. US ebay doesnt have any so i may have to result in buying from dealer.

Also do you have the part number to them? sorry i am a total car noob... the only retrofit i've ever done was a comand retrofit on a 2011 c300...

Yes there is a 2012 for sale in my area that has the package. I want to have my interior like this one. But with some face lifted items like a new switch row, vents with clock and a 3 dial color cluster

Hey guys, I've just gotten my steering wheel today and it's missing a brown wire looks like a ground wire. Is that going to be a problem or do I need it? Attached is a picture of what it should look like with the ground wire.

It's located just slightly above the center hole, looks to be welded onto the metal
