E550: 2010/2011 or 2012?

I purchased my '12 E350 new 4 years ago and to date I have had no issues. The car has 55K on it. I want to keep the E350 and get another E550. I'm not sure whether to look for an N/A 550 or a '12+ with the bi-turbo engine. How reliable are both motors? Which would you recommend? Our '09 750Li with the twin turbo V8 was horrid. I got poor fuel mileage, all injectors had to be replaced, burned a quart of oil every 300 miles, etc. The CPO warranty paid about $25k in claims for that POS and I don't want to do that again.

Should I go for the naturally aspirated V8 or the bi-turbo? I've heard MB does not have issues with their turbo V8 engines unlike BMW.

Definitely go with the TTV8 M278! My 2012 E550 has been very powerful and reliable (even with a tune).

Sweet! Currently on the look for a '12 E550. There was one for $37k with 20,000 miles but it got sold fairly quickly.

5.5 NA engine is bulletproof as well. i wouldnt discount them if i were you. 550s are rare so recommend casting a broad net and seeing what falls into it.

Thanks Man...looks like you have the same color as I do.....Was gonna get some nice rims but on my previous Benz.....I was replacing tire about once a month due to the screwed up roads in NY and NJ...so I might stay put. The car came with what I think are 17 inch AMG's and I'm probably gonna keep them...but may be tempted to change once the car is a little older to update the look

I like the NA 550 engine...never driven the bi-turbo before so I cant offer any helpful comment. I'm in NJ and I find that the NA engine seems to perform really well under very spring and warm weather conditions like from April to June. when the temperature gets really humid and the road heats up it the performance time is noticeable (in my opinion). I also noticed that in the cold months like starting in Sep the car takes just a tab bit to respond when you hit the gas pedal, especially if its in sport mode. but I would test drive both the NA and Bi-turbo if possible. plus I heard with the Bi-turbo you can chip the engine and get an additional 80HP (not sure if this is true) but if you chip the NA you'll only get about 32 additional HP. Nice color..i have the same color btw.
