550 twin turbo engine build using AMG parts
For those of you interested in E550 bi-turbo (m278) performance increases, see the 2 links below. This CLS E550 owner is going all out and has discovered that some of the engine parts (connecting rods, exhaust valves, m157 exhaust manifolds and turbo's) from the AMG 5.5L V8 Bi Turbo (m157) are the same or will bolt on to the 4.6 V8 Bi Turbo (m278).
The m278 has a forged crankshaft similar to the m157.
His goal is a 700hp m278.

i was debating doing something like this next year. I want to build a turbo car but i want a coupe. I was debating on what the trade off would be to build an e550 coupe compared to an e63 sedan,

Hi All,
I have good news. The car was completed today and run 680hp on 91gas and 700+ on 93. I can tell you that this is a true beast. It's noting compared to the stock turbos.. Will prepare all the details tomorrow when i have more time including the dyno run and will let you all know more detail

So he actually modified the engine itself, wow would like to see more pics and know how he did this for sure. I know there is an after market ECU mod, that goes from stock to the below:
Stock: 402 HP @ 5,000-5,750 RPM; 443 LB-FT @ 1,800-4,750 rpm
After Upgrade: 530 HP @ 4900 RPM; 606 LB-FT @ 4100 RPM

other mods are just not worth it.
that should yeild around 550Rwhp and more torque than open diff can handle to put down

Joking aside if your spending thousands building a car, an extra $1000 for an lsd shouldnt make you not have the car you want.
