2010 E550 Facelift Project
In the spirit of being an enthusiast sometimes we take on projects that financially don't make much sense but truly fill our souls by taking the journey. I could have invested money into buying a face lift model but I would have eventually modified the exterior to what this one looks like however having a NA car is what I cared for rather than a forced induction vehicle as I already have a couple.
When the planning phase started I new that replacing the headlights with the facelift model was a must. The second order of business was determining what I wanted to do with the body. I didn't want a kit that others potentially utilized often so after much research I came to find out that the Prior Design Widebody PD850 kit was being used by only two cars outside of the United States so it made it the perfect foundation to work with. The kit is not cheap but definitely worth the money considering the craftsmanship and fitment; minimal adjustments are needed during install. I've actually modified the kit to make it unique and the only one like it available.
Aside from the body the stance of the car was crucial along with the wheels. I initially wanted to incorporate a digitally controlled air ride suspension kit but at almost $6k I wanted to try a more economical option before spending that amount of money so I researched lowering springs. After much research I decided to go with a German manufacturer that truly understands German cars (Vogtland). I've read some off the wall information about Vogtland but after further research and communicating with their team I was convinced that the information published on forums are inaccurate and I needed to make them a partner in this project. They sponsored the springs and I couldn't be happier with the drop and drive ability of my car. I strongly recommmend them.
Wheels are crucial. I needed a product that exemplifies strength, is stylish, but is also at a price point that is economical. I had various wheel companies looking to sponsor my wheels but I decided to go with a set of Ferrada Wheels because they are nice and truly serve the purpose of bringing a nice product to our community without breaking the bank. If you are looking to put some new shoes on your car I recommend you check their line up before spending more than what you would probably want to spend on something else.
The exterior of the car needs a few details touched on and is about 90% complete so I will keep updating this thread as changes occur. I will start looking for sponsors for the sound system, minor performance upgrades, and the interior so as soon as those materialize I will post those pics as well. In the interim here are some pics outlining the start of this journey!
Thanks for reading!

Not sure I want to go down this road though. Last thing I want to end up with is a car I've made worse.

So I came across the most talented wrapper for our cars that not only has cars coming in from around the country but Canada as well! He also is the exclusive wrapping instructor for Vvivid in the country so for a company to put the thier reputation in his hands says a lot. If anyone is interested I can get them an amazing price. However, here is the progress with my car!!
