2014 E550 Coupe or C43?

I currently have a 2011 E550 Coupe that's OE Tuned and has C63 rear calipers. After 95K miles I am ready to get something new, torn between a 2014 E550 or a C43, thoughts? Love the thought of a v8 TT, but the AMG pieces in the C43 make the interior look much better, and the sound!

2014 E550 Coupe and 2010 E350 Sedan
Tough choice. You are in a E550 coupe now, and I'm unsure if the facelift is enough of a change for you since you are looking for something new. The C coupe looks great, but I'm a bit turned off by the faux-AMG model direction. With the price difference, I'd just stay with your current car or go with the facelifted version. If it's not a big stretch, C63 sedan is an outstanding car. Maybe a 2014 S550? I believe they cost about the same as a new C43.

I was alittle surprised on dragtimes to see E550 with 450+ RWHP only running mid to low 12s, that cant be right

I don't know jack about running the 1/4, but I believe having no LSD and a heavy curb weight are big reasons to the 1/4 mile times.

450 RWHP with an auto should be 11s all day, odd

Agreed. There are stock E550 (M278) Coupes on this forum with 1/4 mile slips in the low 12s.

Here's a stock 2013 E550 Coupe that ran 12.4 sec 1/4 mile:

http://www.dragtimes.com/Mercedes-Be...lip-28919.html

Based on several dynos, I've seen stock ranges for M278 of about 350 - 375 WHP (including dyno on my stock E550 Coupe of 369 RWHP). I believe 450 WHP should be able to break into high 11s.

I had a '14 e350 coupe and switched to a c43 (sedan). I know its a bit different from what you're looking into. But, there were a few things that made me decide to try out the c43. Interior was really the deciding factor. I just wanted to try the amg performance seats. Between the two, the c43 seats made me feel more planted. Don't get me wrong, the e-coupe seats were great, c43 just felt more "racing". The reason why I didn't go with the c43 coupe was the panoramic roof. I loved how the e-coupe went all the way to the back, while the c43coupe stopped and left a piece of metal. Also same reason i went with the sedan because the panoramic roof went all the way to the back. Between the two, I honestly preferred the shape of the e-coupe. Had i had the e550 coupe, i most likely would have stayed with the coupe. I do love what amg did with the c43 engine, the extra pops and crackles are music to my ears and if there's a tune that could do that with the e550, i'd stick with the coupe. Since i just lease, I don't like messing with tunes in fear of warranty issues. Although, i had both lowered on h&r springs and i even reused the rims i had in the coupe. I just had to add spacers in the front to fit it into the c43.
So, thats what made it a tough decision for me...
in your case though, i'd go for the '14 550 coupe rather than the c43 coupe, specially if i could get a tune that would give some pops and crackles in the exhaust.

Good luck!
