2018 e400 or c63

I am in Germany and am contemplating buying a 18 e400 coupe for my wife but I also would like to drive the c63 on the autobahn for the next 6 yrs. since they're similarly priced at around 72K which would you choose and why. I know I'd be giving up some tech going from the E to C class but in terms of badging, resale and fun factor I think the C63 AMG would do a little better in about 5 yrs or so. We also have two children that we're putting in the back when we aren't driving the R class, but the space difference in minor on the two cars.

It really depends how much you want to get out of the C63. If you plan to thoroughly enjoy the speed, then go for it. However, from what I read about the C63, the ride is very rough, too firm. Take a test drive on regular roads and see how you like it. That being said, if you just do Autobahn, then it's smooth sailing.

By the way, my E400 coupe is quick enough for me.

E300 Coupe - AMG line Premium Plus
I opted for a new E coupe over the C, its a far superior car in all aspects.

As for the inside, the head/leg room in the back is also significantly better in the E class. I struggled to get in the rear of the C but can sit comfortably in the E and i'm 6,1

As mentioned the tech in the E is excellent. I have the virtual cockpit and its amazing. Its far better than those silly cheap looking screens they use in the C.

Drive wise the C63 will obviously be a bit more fun but that aside getting a C would be a downgrade in all other aspects imo. Also C63 running costs, insurance and taxes will be significantly higher than the E400.

Thanks. I figured that its a once in a lifetime opportunity to drive the C63 on the Autobahn but as a daily driver it may be a bit too much for my wife in terms off the ride and the gas. So, you're liking your e400? How do you find the amenities that it's equipped with, satisfied with the sports+ mode when you want to feel like your rallying?

Really appreciate the input. I initially was going to order a CLA45 AMG for her and was picking up a e300 when they drove in the '18 e400 coupe. My wife fell in love with the interior and the amentities offered so we ordered one and will pick it up in Stuttgart in about 2 months. I scratched the CLA45 wasn't quite sure if the price point for the e400 coupe was worth not getting the AMG experience. Guess we'll try it out and see how it goes. The only thing that I don't like are the color combinations offered for the 2018's and the lack of customizing as they did in the 16-17 models.

I had same dilemma here in the US. Speed and power of C63 or e400 coupe. I went e400 Coupe after test driving it. Power for me was more than enough in the e400 and the ride comfort and extra room was what sealed the deal. Oh, did I mention the Tech is cool and the car is gorgeous? In the end, its a good problem to have. I love mine!!

2024 X5 M60i, 2018 C63S Coupe (sold)
This is not really super on-topic but figured I'd toss it in here anyways, hope you don't mind.

I was at the dealer today finalizing the price for my trade on an '18 C63S coupe I ordered a few months ago that I'll be taking delivery of soon. They had an E400 coupe with perhaps the strangest spec I've ever seen: Cardinal Red over Macchiato Beige/Yacht Blue. Personally, I wouldn't do it, but I have to say the interior is quite striking!

I'd say Premium 2 (for the extra-wide screen) at a minimum for me and I'd probably for Premium 3 to get the surround view since it's not a standalone option. This car only had Premium 1.

Here are some pics and a short video I took while I was there:

That is a bit strange! Maybe it was a 9/11, red, white, and blue look they were going for?

I'd also agree that Premium 2 is the minimum if you are considering this car.

C63 / E400 Cab
Hi my experience relates to the prior 204/207 models of the C63 and E400 (albeit a Cab) but I feel I was in a similar situation as I also have a R

The other day one of my kids said, "I miss the C63, it was fast" Not only was it fast, the most fun about that car was the noise it made The noise made you feel like you were driving fast, even though you weren't.

The ride wasn't harsh and my wife enjoyed driving it as well.

With the E, yes it is fast enough, more comfortable and has more tech, but the C in my view makes up for it with the engine

I chose the E because I wanted a Cab. If I were deciding between a E400 coupe and C63, in my view the difference between the size, tech and ride (which are all better in the E) are outweighed by the engine in the C63.

It looks like you've already purchased the E and i'm sure you will enjoy it, I do like the new model but they are overpriced here when new.

So I think I'm finally deciding on the E400 @ $72K it's got pretty much everything except the designo seats. I also removed the soft close doors due to the impending motor faiure but other than that she's loaded. Black on black w/19" rims, premium 3 all on board accent lighting massage heated ventilated seats, etc. I was initially considering other cars that I could get for $72K but this car is a stunner inside and out as a daily driver. Will post pix once we pick it up in Stugttgart!
