The base price of the coupe is $6000 higher than the sedan (due to lower sales volumes, no doubt).
The E300 sedan is equipped with a 2L Inline 4 turbo engine. The E400 coupe is equipped with a 3L V6 Bi Turbo engine. That bigger, more powerful engine in the coupe accounts for most of the difference.
When the V6 E sedan becomes available in the U.S., the base price will be much closer to the coupe, perhaps a little higher, depending on drive train configuration, etc.
