Oil leak but where from?! HELP!

Recently noticed an oil leak whilst doing an oil change on my E350 (OM642 CDI). It seemed to be the lower sump gasket and the oil temp sensor. After having this repaired I still noticed a slight leak from the under body tray hole, so a quick phone call to my mechanic and off I went for him to take a look. I had a look with him but couldn't find oil leaking from anywhere and was all dry. The only oil we saw was on one of the fuel pipes on the near side of the engine. It looked as if it dropped from somewhere further up and ran down the pipe which was then dripping onto the under body tray. I tried driving it for half an hour and still couldn't find anything!!

Its so frustrating!

Someone please help!

Check around the gaskets of the motor. Unlike tranny leaks, oil leaks are always traced to higher up.

I have checked it twice to trace the leak but all is dry. I double checked the oil cooler but if that was leaking It would be on the other side and it's dry there too! However, I did change the turbo intake seal this morning as it was wet just below it but I can't see that making it's way down the near side of the engine when the turbo is located in the middle at the top?

cheers!

It could be the turbo seal. Wait a couple days and see what happens. I usually put newspaper under the car to see any/where leaks are and to keep the garage floor clean.

So, been for a drive tonight and just got home, looked under the car at the tray and there is still a bit of oil round the drop hole on the under tray. The oil is dripping from the side of the engine near the top somewhere. All gaskets are fine and dry! It's dripping from the top and oil running down onto the 2 fuel pipes then dripping onto the tray. I can't find the source anywhere

Have you checked the oil filter housing?

So I had the oil cooler seals replaced and I’m still finding oil in the bell housing. However the v6 valley is still bone dry.

any suggestions?

Were you able to solve the oil leak issue?
