Hi guys, I’m an extreme noob when it comes to car modding so I am checking in to see if I can get some answers.

here is what I’m looking for, I have a 2013 E550 coupe with the 4.7L twin turbo engine...I am looking to swap out the current stock exhaust pipe and all for something that would give me the sound of an AMG...stock seem to be way too quiet for a v8 TT. Is it possible to swap my current for an OEM AMG pipe and would that give me the result I am looking for? Is there anything I’d need to look out for if I do that?

next is engine tuning, I have read that I can send my car’d ECU to a tuner and get it flashed/tuned...is there a downside to this? Any issues with durability there after?

thank you all in advance for any help...I tried looking through the forums and I am not really finding any concrete answers.

Anytime you tune, you do draw from the reliability bank, so if you tune your car, and theoretically the engine was meant to go for 250k Miles, you might only get 225k out of it. Also the 7 speed transmissions in these cars are almost maxed out on the stock tune TQ wise, so tuning the car would put the TQ over the transmissions max capacity by quite a bit.

Also I hope you don't think I'm trying to be a Debby downer, I also wanted to get a tune for my CLS550, but after doing some research on the Transmission, I've decided against it.

Aww I see, thank you for the info, however, please correct me if I am wrong, my car shares the same transmission as the same year c63 AMG and they are way higher in TQ so shouldn’t mine in theory be able to handle atleast that?

Lmaooooo believe it or not, our cars make more TQ than the C63 does! These engines are underrated, and TQ is closer to 515 At the crank!

Haha, now with that being said, any idea what I should do about the exhaust?

i can link you my youtube
u will have 3 videos cold start
1-started with main resonator delete " sounds okish but quiet"
2-second resonator delete " sounds better but still quiet "
3-installed a c63 performance exhaust " sounds so damn good but not like a real AMG"
u will have all the videos i uploaded on youtube here
https://www.youtube.com/user/emazens
put a good headphone on and u can thank me later

next would be down pipe then it would sound louder than stock amg ,,,but at this point i am happy with my set up !

e550 uses 2.5' pipes all around
AMG if i am not mistaken uses 3.0" pipes all around

I believe high flow cats, resonator delete and a sportier muffler (the c63 one sounds great on this engine) would do it. High flow cats aren't smog legal where I live hopefully they are where you live.

the problem for me is I live in CA so I cannot do a cat delete or anything like that since it will not pass smog for me. Does any one know if I were to purchase a cat-back exhaust for a w204 would it fit my w207? I need to confirm this as I think i found the system i like. i am looking into the Akrapovic system but i can only find them for the w204 and w205 but none for the w207. Can anyone confirm?

I put a w204 c63 cat back system on my 2012 550 coupe, it pretty much bolted on but the mufflers were kind of at an odd angle so my muffler guy cut, adjusted and re-welded. I wasnt in love with the tips so I told him not to worry they were a bit askew (he was going to heat and bend them straight) and sourced some w212 e63 style tips eventually. It is a top speed performance cat back.

Right one in the photo is how the mufflers were sitting, the left one is cut and sitting on the jack funny.

Both straghtened up

How it sits now with the e63 tips & piecha style diffuser

I am in Cali also so I know the pain. I think they sell some carb compliant catbacks on ebay which would be california legal but I'm not sure how good they sound. Judging by the system you're looking at I don't know if you'd be interested in the ebay route.
