I have a few questions about a 06 E350 thant I might buy.
It all looks clean inside and out, But there are a few error codes. The screen in the instrument cluster says "BRABKE Service break visit workshop" and "Tele Aid malfunction Drive to wok shop" I hooked up my obd scanner and had a bunch of codes come up. The sealer said the O2 sensor needs replaced and that errors would go away. I'm going to attach a picture of the codes. Does anyone know if a new O2 sensor will clear the codes?
Just google Mercedes m272 balance shaft. M272 is the engine family in the E350. Like all other V6 engines with 90 degree cylinder bank angle, it requires a balance shaft to run smoothly. The teeth wear out on the shaft, and it needs to be replaced. It is a $4500 repair, give or take. The initial symptom is a cam timing OBD code - P0016, I think. I would not purchase an m272 car without documentation of the repair, otherwise you are at risk of spending 50% of the purchase price on an engine repair.
I'd probably skip any car with this many OBD codes as well, doesn't fell very well maintained. If it was an easy fix, the current owner would have had it done.
