e400 remote starting

My e400 remote start starts the car but then car turns off after a minute. Other times it doesn’t even start. Am I alone on this or is this the general experience ?

Remote start.

It’s a 50/50 crapshoot when it works or not.
After watching and wait for the little wheel to stop turning it’ll say “ remote start failed “

Assuming that you all have later models than I do (the Remote Start feature doesn't work with my car), I find that the entire Mercedes Me app is a crap shoot. Sometimes it can communicate with the car and sometimes it can't. I went through a period of about two months in the spring when the app sent me daily, automated text messages advising that communication with the car had failed due to a "network error". I talked to numerous individuals at the help line for the app and not one of them had any idea what was going on.

I have a 2017 E400C4 and I don't even have the Remote Start option on my Mercedes me app. Do you at least have the option on the app (even though it does not work)? I pretty much feel the same way about the app, but I'd leave the word "shoot" off . . .

I just logged into the app to see if the Remote Start option even appeared there for my car, only to discover that my mBrace account has been deactivated. The app says:

Activate your mBrace Account
By activating your mBrace account you can enjoy the full Mercedes me experience with features like Remote Start, Send2Benz, Locate Vehicle, and more.

I called mBrace and the woman who answered the phone told me, "You need to go in your car and press the 'i' button near the rear view mirror to wake up the service. Your service shut down because you haven't pressed the 'i' button since May, so there has been no communication with your vehicle in months".

When I told her this wasn't true because I use the app at least once a week to locate my car and send addresses to the navigation system, she said only "pressing the 'i' button" counts as communication. When I asked why this has never happened before and why "pressing the 'i' button at least once per month" is not mentioned when the owner buys the car and sets up the service, she had no real answer. She just kept reiterating that you "have to press the 'i' button at least once per month or else your account will deactivate for lack of use".

This sounds like complete bull crap and employee incompetence to me.

Did pressing the "i" button re-activate it?

I pressed the button and explained to the woman who answered that I had been told I needed to press the "i" button at least once per month in order to keep my account active. She basically said this was B.S., and that my account was already active. She put me on hold to make an inquiry, and while I was waiting I checked the app again and found that it was now showing my account as active. When she came back on the line, she said that they were having connectivity problems with the app due to current weather conditions. I told her I'd checked it and found my account restored, and asked if she'd done anything to it. She said no, and reiterated that there was nothing to do because my account was not inactive.

BMW's app was far more stable than Mercedes Me, and their telephone reps were far more knowledgeable and professional. I'm not impressed at all.

My previous car was an 2014 F10 BMW. I agree the BMW app was better than the Mercedes Me. I don't know if their costumer service was any better, in two years I never once had to call them. When i called M-B yesterday, mostly the lady at Mercedes was trying to up sell me more services. On the BMW app, when you pressed the button to send a destination to the car's GPS, you were taken to Google Maps. You could enter the address, or just select a point on the map (a very handy feature).

Mercedes customer service told me that "remote start" was not available for my 2017 E400C4, and that's why the app did not show it.. I asked her what Option was required to make that work-- she had no clue-- "You need to ask your dealer."
