Rear Sunshade Blind scratch marks on glass

Hi everyone, I just recently purchased a certified 2014 E350 Coupe from a Canadian Mercedes dealership.

I just came to notice the left side of rear sunshade blind roller wheel has scratch the glass, the right side is fine.

Is this normal? Should I go back to the dealership and ask to replace glass + sunshade blind?

Thank you for your input

Was it scratched when you purchased the car?

Yes-- go to the dealer and ask them to replace the glass. I doubt they will do that, but it can not hurt to ask.

Not normal definitely should have been caught during inspection therefore covered, see line 143 in attachment.

I would definitely go back to the dealer to have the glass replace and make sure that the shade does not scratch the glass. You paid extra for a CPO car and you should insist that the dealer should do the right thing.

Certainly, checking all the glass is an item to be inspected; but without knowing the acceptance criteria, it's difficult to guess correctly about exactly what is unacceptable. I mean in the US even "some" rodent **** in your cereal is acceptable to the FDA. If the glass has been scratched to the extent that the conductor/heating element of the rear window defroster has been cut/damaged on the LEFT side, then it certainly would warrant replacement-- but if just "marks", I'm not so sure.

I do hope the dealer offers you an acceptable remedy. But I honestly think "flawless" is not the criterion applied. I've seen many CPO cars with minor dings, scratches, paint chips, etc.

Indeed. I purchased and subsequently returned a CPO car to a local dealer when I discovered upon closer inspection that the entire hood had been repainted. Their response? "Just because it's a certified vehicle doesn't mean it hasn't been in an accident."

Buyer beware.

I want to thank all of you for your opinion.

This CPO I purchased in Canada, I feel the dealership didn't do a good job in inspecting the car prior to delivery. Because I am dealing with issues now, it has only been 1 week of delivery.
The fender has to be repainted due to paint defect, the defect size is the size of a baseball, very difficult not to see it.
The front left parking sensor would go on randomly.
There is a steering vibration click sound in cold start.

I agree with Mr. Toad, paying extra for CPO(USA) or Star Certified(Canada) doesn't mean much in my opinion.

Coming from W204, I do love this C207's V6 engine, it is powerful and smooth. The ride quality is also comfortable and smooth, driving long distance in this car is joyful.

I've said this elsewhere on these boards, but it bears repeating. The CPO designation doesn't really mean that the car is in great condition; it means that the dealer will be obligated to fix most of the problems discovered by the buyer.

AnotherBenz, did the dealer address most of your concerns in a satisfactory manner?
