Water leaking inside spare tire compartment mercedes c207

Hello, im kinda new here. I have this problem with my e class coupe c207. Someway somehow water is leaking into my spare tire compartment. I removed the third brake light bought a new one and sealed it significantly with black silicone. I removed all of the four brake tail lights( 2 on the trunk and to on each side) and also sealed them with silicone. Lastly, i removed the rubber gasket surrounding the trunk and also sealed it with silicone yet the water still seems to accumulate into the trunk. I could’nt find the source of the leak. The water only seems to accumulate under rain. If i take the car to a car wash or spray the car with a hose nothing will appear. I only know that the water is passing under the rear sam on the right side of the trunk and accumulating in the spare tire compartment. Pleasee help!!!!!

Check ventilation grille to rear fender.

Thank you for your reply. As i was tweaking around, i tried to throw a bit of water into the trunk latch as shown in the picture below. I noticed that the water was making it's way down to the right towards the rear sam and then into my spare tire compartment. Now, i am faced with 2 possibilities. Either water is somehow entering from the outside and into the latch, or the water is actually making its way through the actual trunk lid, passing through the trunk lock and down the latch. i stuffed some tissue paper inside the latch and im gonna wait for some heavy rain, if the next morning i find that the tissue paper is wet, then i know that water is passing through the latch.

Have you checked all rubber gaskets and sealings underneath the rear bumper?
Try spraying water from behind and under the rear bumper (NOT on the ventillation).

If you open the rear lid you will notice two plastic details that cover the left and
right side of the chassis. Using a small cutter *carefully* remove the four
plastic rivets that keeps them in place and then gently remove the covers
upward. Most likely you will find dirt that has accumulated there and perhaps
that corrosion has started making the holes "a bit" wider.

This is a design flaw wich all C207 owners should check regularly.

You sealed rubber trunk gasket however, water may entering through cover below, where seal mounts. Check under this cover by removing expansion plugs (part # 0009915940 if you need to replace). Uky may be commenting on same.

Hello,
thank you all for your replies, i have resolved the problem. I applied silicone to those clips mentioned above, and applied silicone next to the air vent that konigster mentioned and no water entered the trunk. Thank you all for participating in this thread i wish you all the best.
thank you ❤️

Does anyone know the MB part number for the small trim piece that's circled in this photo?

For me, water was making entry into the same area because one of the rubber grommets in the rear bumper area is missing. This allowed for the rain water/snow on the road to make its way up to the spare tire area and settle.
